OpenAI Promotes ChatGPT Desktop App
OpenAI shared a direct download link for its ChatGPT desktop application via its official X account.
OpenAI posted a direct link to its ChatGPT desktop app on X, directing users to download the client. The post, published April 11, highlights the company's continued push to move ChatGPT beyond the browser and onto users' desktops.
The ChatGPT desktop app gives users system-level access to the assistant, including the ability to invoke it from any application, attach files and screenshots directly, and work with code in a local environment. For teams and developers already integrating ChatGPT into daily workflows, a native desktop client reduces friction compared to switching between browser tabs. The renewed promotion suggests OpenAI is prioritizing desktop adoption as a distribution channel alongside its mobile and web interfaces.
