OpenAI Launches Workspace Agents in ChatGPT for Business Teams
OpenAI has introduced workspace agents in ChatGPT — shared agents for complex, long-running workflows across tools and teams.
OpenAI has launched workspace agents in ChatGPT, now available in research preview for Business, Enterprise, Edu, and Teachers plans. The feature lets organizations build shared agents that operate across tools — pulling context from documents, email, chats, code, and connected systems, then taking approved actions such as updating Linear issues, creating documents, or sending messages in Slack.
Teams describe a job, and ChatGPT helps turn it into a working agent that follows established team practices. Once built, an agent can be shared across the organization and applied to recurring tasks like qualifying leads, routing feedback, reviewing requests, or pulling reports. OpenAI describes the agents as designed for work that requires sustained context and follow-through — coordinating across tools and advancing tasks without constant human supervision. The launch moves ChatGPT from a per-user assistant toward shared team infrastructure, placing it in more direct competition with enterprise automation platforms and agentic workflow tools organizations are already evaluating.
