Ideogram 4.5 targets drift in multi-turn image edits

Ideogram has released Ideogram 4.5, an editing model it says reduces the pixel shifts, color changes and texture artifacts that pile up when you edit the same image several times. That drift is what makes multi-pass AI editing risky for product shots and print work. Ideogram also says 4.5 can edit high-resolution images without downsizing and preserve crop edges so an edited region stitches back into the original. Its demo uses a 24.2 MP source.
Access is hosted only for now. It is available through Ideogram's app and API and through partners including Pika, fal and Krea, per AlphaSignal. Open weights are planned but have no date. fal's listing prices edits at $0.008 (Very Low) to $0.22 (High) per image, regardless of size. Ideogram's own API pricing page doesn't yet show 4.5 rates.
The side-by-side comparisons against rivals are Ideogram's own, as RuntimeWire notes. One independent single-run test from Promptowy, written in Polish, chained 10 edits. On regions no prompt touched, Ideogram 4.5 at high precision scored SSIM 0.95 and ΔE 2.5, against SSIM 0.43 and ΔE 9.5 for GPT Image 2.5. It was also the priciest model tested, and its output came back slightly smaller than the source.
Leaderboards are less flattering. Nano Banana 2 ranks higher on Artificial Analysis's editing board, and Qwen Image 3.0 scores about the same for far less per edit. Nobody has independently checked the large-format print claim. If you're considering 4.5, run your own five-to-ten-pass loop on real assets before switching.
