OpenClaw's agent loop moved its web UI from Lit to Solid 2.0 in about two weeks

OpenClaw's web frontend moved from Lit to Solid 2.0 in about two weeks, driven mostly by an agent loop. @steipete says he checked in every other day across roughly 600 PRs. For anyone planning a long framework migration with agents, it is a rare public log of the work, including the scale of the cleanup and what slipped through.
According to OpenClaw's own timeline, the work started October 9, the first PR opened about seven hours later, and direct Lit usage was removed from the Control UI on October 16. The "~600" figure combines 255 PRs that explicitly name Solid, Lit or Web Awesome with 352 later UI refactors. The timeline says the later refactors are "not all attributable to the migration." It also qualifies "Lit removed": the separate Canvas A2UI renderer still pulls Lit in as a transitive dependency. Third-party digests logged the PRs while they landed, including #168758 and #168762 and the app-shell port #168612.
@steipete says Astra did the planning and Sol 6.1 wrote the code. He found prompting Astra to run Codex CLI in worktrees worked "FAR better" than subagents. A second agent challenged Astra to keep it on track. The agent missed a few small regressions, which he describes as mostly button-shape and minor UX issues.
Treat the performance claims with care. He reports a smaller JS and CSS footprint and a snappier UI. The timeline's own summary says the evidence shows architectural change and some bundle savings, "not a measured whole-application speed advantage" over React or Svelte. The size reduction is not quantified anywhere.
