1Password for Agents lets AI agents sign in without seeing your password

1Password launched a vault integration that autofills logins for approved agent requests; only Muse and Grok Bot are rolling out first.

1Password on October 22 announced 1Password for Agents. A personal AI agent can now request a login from your vault, and if you approve, 1Password fills the credential directly into the site so the agent never receives it, according to 1Password's blog. If you've been pasting passwords into an agent's prompt to get past a sign-in page, this is the alternative on offer.

Here is the flow, per 1Password's press release. The agent verifies itself with a unique digital key. You see which credential it wants and why. You approve on your own device. 1Password told Android Authority that once the site accepts the login, it removes the credential so the agent can't read or reuse it.

What's usable today is narrower than the partner list. The blog names Muse from Meta, Claude Duet, ChatGPT Work and dots, Grok Bot and Townie. Only the Muse and Grok Bot integrations are "rolling out over the coming days." The others are "coming soon," as MacRumors also reports, and 9to5Mac points to a waitlist. The feature comes at no extra cost on Individual and Family accounts on 1Password.com. Accounts on 1Password.eu and 1Password.ca aren't supported.

The limits matter. Hiding the password doesn't restrict what the agent does once it is signed in. Tbreak cites 1Password's FAQ, which says an agent may see information or take actions inside the account. 1Password says the approval frequency and safeguards vary by integration. WindowsForum notes that the security claims are the company's own, with no third-party audit in the evidence it reviewed. Start with low-stakes accounts.
