Anthropic Launches The Anthropic Institute with Four-Part Research Agenda

Anthropic published the research agenda for The Anthropic Institute (TAI), covering economic impact, dual-use threats, AI governance, and self-improving AI systems.

Anthropic published the research agenda for The Anthropic Institute (TAI), a new research body organized around four areas: economic diffusion, threats and resilience, AI systems in the wild, and AI-driven R&D.

The institute will examine how AI reshapes economies — building on Anthropic's existing Economic Index — and develop tools to assess dual-use capabilities. Anthropic cited Claude Mythos Preview, described as its most powerful coding model, as an example of systems with elevated cybersecurity relevance that TAI will study. The AI systems in the wild pillar will explore questions around human agency, autonomous agent governance, and how agents interact with each other. The AI-driven R&D thread focuses on maintaining human visibility and control as AI systems increasingly contribute to their own development. Alongside the agenda, Anthropic opened applications for the Anthropic Fellowship, a four-month funded program pairing researchers with TAI mentors to work directly on these questions.
